AFRICAN CELEBRITIES

Hi loves. I have always followed a number of celebrities and I see people listing out their most or the most stylish celebrities and I have not yet come across a list of our African celebrities most stylish and best dressed. I decided to share with you guys my list. I know yesterday I gave a hint about today’s post, but you know what, let’s put that on hold for a while and talk style. :-D most stylish African celebrities.

Please do note that, this is my own personal list and the first 5 are in order of best to least best, but from the 6^th I couldn’t decide who goes where and who comes last. I have no last but I do have a number one. Also note that these are only the celebrities I know about and regularly follow, I am sure there are more stylish ones out there that will catch my attention, these are just a few that came to mind.

Also note that, I am not judging anything other than their style, whether they have good or bad publicity, that is out of the question. It’s all about style, so don’t take my comments too personal.

KOFFI OLOMIDE

Give it for my brother from another mother. It’s Koffi olomide. Growing everywhere were always shocked by what this guy will wear next, today he will show up rocking goggles and still pull it off somehow, and tomorrow he is going to show up with a skirt and still look manly and rock it. Craziest dude ever.

DENRELLE

I love taking risks when it comes to fashion, at the same time I love to stand out of the crowd, it’s like eyes on me but good eyes. That is why this awesome fabulous dude takes my number 2 spot for most stylish African celebrities. I clap for any guy who can rock heels that high.

POKELLO

If there is one thing I have not yet talked about is, I love my motherland. I love Africa and this is where I will be for the rest of my life, I don’t really care if I never visit other continents. Because I am so in love with home, pokello combines all that love into her style. There is always a touch of motherland. It’s just beautifull

ELIKEM

In Fourth place we have ELIKEM. Or should I say polikem? What I love most about Elikem is when he matches with pokello. They look like the most beautiful couple ever and they are so cute together. When they match it’s fireworks. Individually, still hot.

RITA DOMINIC

This woman has class, confidence, elegance, beauty and kindness all wrapped in one. Seeing her in movies I thought to myself, she looks spoiled and someone who wouldn’t even stop to say hi or look at you. She came to Kenya sometime back; she actually said Hi and was the only nice person among all the girls. I just love Rita. Her style is speechless, perfection wrapped up. Thank you.

HUDDAH MONROE

I love bad bitches that’s my fucking problem. Yes sir! We got a bad bitch over here. Her swag is on point, can’t help it but follow her on instagram “That twerking tho ;-)” Anyway back to our topic. Huddah got swag from the root of her hair to her toenails. You can’t help but appreciate. Her style is dope. I approve.

YVONNE NELSON

Tall skinny and black, equals beauty. I don’t know if it is her beauty that makes her style look so on point or it’s her style that makes her look so gorgeous. I don’t know, which ever it is, I am in love with both.

MISS UNIVERSE 2011 

It is not easy trying to look conservative and sexy at the same it. You will likely go overboard and cross that line. End up looking too hoochie or end up looking like queen Elizabeth. Don’t get me wrong, Queen Elizabeth has great style too, but for her age, for my age, Leila lopes takes the crown once more.

FALLY IPUPA

Two Congolese on the list. Damn! What does that say? Congolese got mad style. Yes we do, actually the whole of central Africa, that’s where entertainment is born, so we do it best!

LATOYAH!

I wish I had all her clothes, her shoes and of course her money. When I say dope style and dope swagger. This is what I mean. When I close my eyes and start dreaming of all the cool clothes I want to own, I picture her clothes on me. I am not entirely a tomboy but I am a mixture of both. Sneakers, I will rock, dresses I will rock. I am just me and I love her closet. A lot.

GOLDIE HARVEY (R.I.P)

Rest in Peace, we lost great talent and one of the best entertainer, but she had to make my list. Whether she is still amongst us or not, for me she is still baaaaaddd… She will take a risk and wear it as if everyone is doing it. Her fashion was on point, her craziness complemented her style. She would go extra length. Never seen anyone else look so good in an outfit made of newspaper. We both killed it (My pictures are on facebook, will post it up on instagram) J

I wanted to list 10 so bad, but i had a list that goes up to 13 and had to narrow it down. sorry for the long list, we got too many stylish celebrities out here. :-)

HOW I DO MY HAIR (QUICKIE)

Hi guys, I have been looking for the perfect time to drop this post ever since I posted this hairstyle on the blog, facebook… etc. so many people have asked/ told me, “omg I love your weave” or “where can I get that weave”. It’s not a weave and I am going to show you guys how I achieve that look. It’s pretty ratchet but what matters is not the process but the ending. I don’t even know if this is the right time to blog about it, but I have been waiting so long and that perfect moment never came, I woke up today and decided “what the heck, I am posting it!” They say, if you keep waiting until you are ready, you will wait forever :-D So this is how I achieve the curly fringe bandanna look.

STEP ONE

Have all your stuff ready, that is your bandanna and hair piece.

STEP TWO

Make a ponytail at the front, on top of your head, tight or not it doesn’t matter. I like it tight just so my face can look new. Lol. You know what I mean :-D

STEP THREE

Put on your hair piece and if it does not have clips on it like mine, clip it. Then adjust how you want the curls to fall

STEP FOUR

Tie on your bandanna and fix the curls again.

Lastly, make sure you don’t put yourself in a situation where your hair will be hooked on to something and come off, and don’t let people touch it. Too many secrets down there. :-D

D.I.Y DENIM CROPPED SHIRT

I am back guys. Did not post a D.I.Y in over a week and I am telling you, it felt like forever but, we had to get those items sold. And I just want to thank everyone who purchased. Before we start, how are you guys? And what have you been up to? Anything exciting?. I’d love to know. As for me, since February exciting crazy things; feeling blessed. I am also going back to school and will be juggling two universities at once. I will be doing my masters on one side and taking a diploma on the other. If you are wondering why a diploma again, why go back? Because I found the course of my dreams, can’t die yet. I must take it. So that is what I have been up to.

For today’s post, I hope you will all fall In love with me at the end. Honestly it’s that awesome. If you have understood my style so far, I love to stand out, lights on me, cameras on me and eyes on me. I mean, I am a scorpio, we love attention and we don’t care what you think about us, as long as you thinking about “me”. That is why I have no shame being broke and looking fabulous with less than 150ksh. “Some may be criticizing but most still be loving”. Make them think that you just walked out of forever 21. I always believe that if you see yourself a certain way, people will see you like that. It’s not about being fake but being confident in your own skin.

Today we are going to make a cropped denim shirt. One step, mad style, dope swagger, and everything a girl can dream of. 

WHAT YOU NEED:

-      DENIM SHIRT

-      SCISSORS
- RULER AND PEN

I got my denim shirt for 150ksh (you can find for less), at toy market, at an unusual place. The guy was selling men’s shirts, oversize men’s shirts, then I see this denim looking lonely, I pick him up and the arms are too short. But one thing I loved about it, is it’s color.

Please do note that I love it when you guys get creative and outdo me. Do not stick to using a denim shirt, you can use a plain white shirt, pair it up with dark blue jeans or black shredded jeans and silver or gold neck piece, “Shut the front door”, Try it to believe it. Another idea would be to use a shirt with a vintage feel to it, also remember that, an oversized shirt will work just fine, does not need to be fitting.

STEP ONE:

Wear your shirt and determine where you want to cut it from, you will need a pen and a ruler for this. You can go as low or as high as you wish but make sure the lower you can go is right below your belly button, at the tip, anything lower is not a crop top. Belly button or up.

STEP TWO:

Start the cutting, I recommend you focus if you are clumsy like me. Once you are done cutting fold the arms and wear your new fashionable top. Always remember that, the little or the smaller you cut, it is easier to fix than cutting a big chunk and not being able to stick it back on.

DON'T FORGET TO CUT THE ARMS, PREFERABLY AT THE ELBOW SO YOU HAVE A NICE AMOUNT TO FOLD.

CELEBRATING WOMEN

Hey loves. Happy belated women’s day to all of you strong Inspiring hardworking beautiful women out there. However you celebrated, I hope you had the time of your life. I celebrate every day, I am proud to be a woman 24hours, 7 days a week and 365 days a year. Women do run the world, we are the reason it is and we keep it going. Love yourself and don’t let what anyone says about you bring you down, you are fuckin pertfect.

For women’s day, I attended Nairobi Fashion Market Spring edition for the first time, they happen to fall on the same day and luckily it’s my friend who told me about it the night before. So on this post, we are going to celebrate ourselves, and let me just say, this is one of my favorite personal posts so far. First of I would love to celebrate my mother who I love so much for bringing me into this world and the reason I am the person that I am today. My mother is a fashionista just like me, we both love fashion, and I am pretty sure, I got it from my mama. So here is my “Nairobi Fashion Market outfit”. What I wore:

I posted a different picture on my facebook page for what I wore. But I ended up changing the shoes and the bag. Why? The first shoe was not really comfortable. Anyway, Back to the topic, I love smart, goal oriented women who go for what they want, and this friend of mine does just that. In a peplum top and striped bodycon skirt, my friend winnie is a fashion blogger, a friend, an amazing person, a trendsetter and an inspiration to many. There is nothing more beautiful than a woman who makes her own, by that I mean, who gets her own cheddar. Money. Meet my friend, an entrepreneur and someone I have known for years now. If you love accessories, designer perfumes… etc. She owns a shop at Lavington green, 4^th floor. 405. Don’t forget to mention me for even a better discount. The shop is called; Myrina Alke LTD.

If there is one trait I have, is that, I am a go-getter, If I want it, I will go find it, If I believe in what I do, I will not stop no matter what negatives people think. I will work hard to get where I need to be. That is one thing I can say about this model right here, from competing in a pageant together, I slowly saw her grow into the model she is today and constantly working hard. Congratulations to you Helen and all your achievements.

If there is one thing I always tell myself is, I was not born to be an employee, I was born a leader, so every single day I work towards making myself independent and having my own from my own hard work. I had the amazing opportunity to get to know this photographer, carlene. Do what you love, and love what you do. Hard work pays, you may not see it now, but remember “However long the night, the dawn will break”

Lastly we have my best friend, someone who has thaught me to think positive, let go of the “What ifs’?” and ask yourself “Why not?”. You gain nothing from doubting yourself but you gain so much by believing in yourself, it’s not easy to wake up in the morning and say, “I can do this” but think of what you have accomplished so far, maybe you finished school, you passed, you got employment, you helped someone, you started a business, you held a relationship. There you have it, every reason to think “Why not me”. You got all it takes to be what you want, it’s about time you start doing and stop thinking, you will be surprised how gifted you are.

This goes out to all the women out there, doing there thing, and working harder than men. They are not any better than we are. Yes got created men first but you need a draft before a masterpiece. HAPPY WOMEN’S DAY! And what an awesome event it was at “Nairobi Fashion Market”. Yes we run the world. Kisses
