5 DAYS TO WASHINGTON

5 DAYS TO WASHINGTON

It just hit me this morning that "I" yes "I", B4BG will be meeting Barack Obama? Wait, pause, rewind! It's actually true. Knew it all along but just didn't feel this anxious about it; I was like "Yeah cool I will meet Obama in August"; and today I am like; "OH MY GOD! I AM GOING TO MEET OBAMA?" Still processing and I just realized I have nothing to wear. But check out this outfit I put together on the weekend! Red and Black! I dedicate it to Sandra Bland. #BlackLivesMatter and Yes All lives matter. No one should be subjected to violence. Do unto others what you would like done to you.

OOTW! Outfit of the Weekend?? lol
Long vest : Macy's $7
High waisted tights: Ksh300
Tank top: $2
Shoes (My little redneck) : $20 Amazon
Wool Vintage hat: $8 Amazon
Fringe bag: Walmart

No America is not "that" cheap; What i have actually realized is that; it's not that different from prices in Kenya; and slightly cheaper that in Congo (My 242).I just don't make decisions when I see something for the first time. I check out every other places to compare prices and make a decision.

Truth is; I CAN'T WAIT TO GO HOME AND WORK ON SOME DOPE D.I.Ys I JUST THOUGHT OF! and back to work; No not because I like working (depends on the days), but because currently I have the coolest job ever where looking good is part of my job description. Indirectly.

I DON'T LIKE CHEAP - CHEAP LIKES ME

I DON'T LIKE CHEAP - CHEAP LIKES ME

Hello guys. How are you all doing.?
I am doing amazing, just coming back from my very first ever stadium baseball game in New Orleans and it was a great experience but not as great as coming across this $17-20 dollars dress for $9.99. Yeah and I wasn't looking for it; it just came to me. If you are familiar with my blog; I get a rush finding dope stuff for a low prices and this was another exciting buy! Because wherever I saw the dress, it was $16.99 or more.

OOTD: Wish I didn't have the handbag on. It's a sick dress!
White dress: $10 - New Orleans - Forgot the name of the shop.
Doll shoes: $5 - Wallmart
Fringe Handbag: $16 - Wallmart
Versace Earring:100ksh -  kenya

If you have been following me up on Facebook. Then you know I got another sweet deal; this rednecks below were just $20. That's why I say; I don't like cheap - Cheap likes me. Just keeps coming and I it's not that I don't like it; I love it.

My first ever experience with baseball was interesting, I didn't follow up much because I was more focused on having fun, cheering than actually watching the game. Will I go watch another baseball game? Probably with another group of 10 or more crazy-fun Africans, that's the type of crowd with whom I feel like myself around.

NO HIDDEN AGENDA - EXPOSED.

NO HIDDEN AGENDA - EXPOSED.

WOULD YOU STILL LOVE ME NAKED? "Can you love me naturally with no hidden Agenda... lashes off, hair extended freely like southern oaktress in December; Can you hold me near with deep passion in the night... contour washed away, my soul naked beneath the moonlight... Tell me I am the one you'll always remember. Love me naturally with no Hidden Agenda!"

(Picture with Plot Mhako - Zimbabwean Producer/Director)

Hi beautiful people;
I wanted to share this beautiful Art piece with you all; done by Allen called "Love me Naturally" found at Ashe (read Ashay). An organization that promotes African culture, African American talent an history. Arts can speak louder than words and this particular piece has given me a new meaning of beauty and acceptance.

Through this art piece, I am hoping we all feel confident in our skins. Whether black, white, Hispanic, mixed, Asian... etc. It doesn't mean that beauty enhancements are no good, I am all for it, but before you do that, make sure you are beautiful in your own skin and happy with your uniqueness. I grew up not liking my looks, after a few years of defining beauty for myself, i have come to the conclusion hat there is just one version of me, i am as beautiful as i can ever be, because there is no one like me. Another quote I really love is; " Why fit in when you were born to stand out?" Just speaks loud for me.
I also got the chance to explore New Orleans Graffiti and sites area.

OOTD:
Denim Jacket - 600 ksh Toy Market
Jumpsuit: 1200 Ksh Mr. Price
T-shirt: 400 Ksh Jumia Kenya
Shoes: 300 Ksh Jumia Kenya

More so, I felt like even prouder to be African seeing how African Fashion is being preserved and seeing all the beautiful people so excited to learn about African culture, fashion, Art and ...etc.

DOING IT LIKE THE NEW ORLEANS. WHO DAT!

DOING IT LIKE THE NEW ORLEANS. WHO DAT!

Ce poste est également en français. Cliquez sur ce lien: Nouvelle Orlande. Faire comme les romains

As some of you may already know. This year; I have been selected part of the Mandela Washington Fellowship program for young African Leaders to represent my beautiful country Congo in the United states in New Orleans then Washington where I get the chance to meet President Barack Obama.
Blessed to the max to have been given this opportunity to represent my country in the united states and act as an embassador, at the same time represent the United States in My country Congo, I have since realized how blessed the African continent is.
Growing up, most of us have that dream of “I wanna move to the states, I can’t take being here”, well I have never been one of them, I have always wanted to move to South Africa because that is where Nelson Mandela is from and he is such an inspiration to the previous, present and future generation, just breathing the same air as he did is an inspiration. Yes I am exaggerating but I truly believe it.

So far, since June; I have been doing things as the Americans do it, Celebrating pride, July 4th, Learning about American politics, Slave history and the birth of inspired Congolese music “Jazz” in America. All great things, so much to learn. What I have also come to realize is that; Just how much I love “My africa” Yes that’s how I call it; My motherland, or my 242 (Congolese country code). They say there is no place like home and it’s true, as beautiful as America is, Africa is equally beautiful and if I must say, more alive than America.

This is also to inform you that, from now on I might be involving my work with my fashion blogging. Apart from fashion and lifestyle blogging, I am passionate about civic engagement, currently focusing on Teen pregnancy, Education; although I also have a passion for Arts and Environment. I also believe that  the term Beauty4brokegirls has a much more deeper meaning than being just financially broke, as a basis this blog speaks for the margined girls who don’t have enough to access what they want, in broader terms; these broke girls could also be the uneducated ones, the unfortunate ones. How do we then empower them to reach greater heights and improve their personal skills, I am aware that through my D.I.Y tutorials; up to date many still write to me by email, whatsapp or other means for advice and other; And through these D.I.Ys I have not only improved my own personal craft skills but also built a wider network and been able to earn from what started as a hobby. I truly hope and wish that we can make changes through something as simple and as fun as blogging. Inspire and laugh all the way through bettering ourselves.
This also goes to speak to those following my blog; that if you are passionate about the following areas and would love to team up with me in civic leadership, I am ready and excited to join forces and possibly travel to wherever the change is happening. My areas of interest are; Reproductive health, Gender Equality, Arts and Environment.

Representing my country this year for the Mandela Washington Fellowship (2015) and expected to grow as a community leader, I feel blessed to have been given this opportunity and I hope to share it with all of you throughout Africa. I feel like, as human beings it is our duty to give back, as an African proverb says “One finger cannot wash the entire face”. We all need one another; we are all hungry for inspiration and growth.

Before concluding I just want to point out that I helped design his outfit with a certain tailor; cost me about $30 to get it done; including material cost. For the great news; now that I am in Congo, I don’t want to buy clothes anymore but design everything and my addiction since being in the United states is shoes and electronics. Clothes I will make them :-D Shoes? Omg I need every single one of them. Rolling with about 10 pairs of black high heels so far. Can’t get enough of black and shoes!!!

Thank you for visiting and hope you come again for next week’s post!

NOUVELLE ORLANDE. FAIRE COMME LES ROMAINS!

Doing it like the New Orleans! WHO DAT!

This post is also in English. Click this link: Doing it like the New orleans. Who dat!
