OOTD: I CAN DO IT LIKE A DUDE

OOTD :
I CAN DO IT LIKE A DUDE

Hello beautiful people, how was your weekend? Mine was a blast. I attended “Street Fashion” on Saturday 28th and I had such a great time, met up with awesome people and had my 15 seconds of fame, strutted the runway like nobody’s business. But this is not what today’s post is about, I am currently working on “street Fashion’s” Post and putting the pictures together, dividing them, so the post will likely be up on Wednesday. Today I just wanted to share with you my Outfit of the Day. Have you ever had one of those days, you feel incredibly inspired, put something together and kaboom, straight out of the runway. Nothing feels out of place, every string of hair is exactly where it’s meant to be, shoes looking dope and your swag takes off from maybe a 100 to 250%. Exactly how I feel, like a new person, but a hot new person. So for today’s outfit, I decided to go for:
-      Blue boyfriend jeans – 30Ksh Gikomba Market
-      Boyfriend coat – 300Ksh Kawangware Market
-      T-shirt – Free (I love free stuff)
-      Combat boots 1000Ksh Toy Market
-      Timberland watch (Free)

I have always been and will always be a tomboy at heart but fashion is not about gender, I can’t describe fashion, there are not enough words; it’s how you express yourself without saying a word. And I am saying “Versatile” Yes I am versatile, I am the girl who will rock a garbage bag and own it like Versace made it, I will wear torn clothes and make it look like it was supposed to be that way. Fashion is how you feel, and I say it over and over again, it’s all about confidence. Not the price tag, boutique or designer. You make “you” stand out.

If you are all wondering how I get lucky finding these items for such a cheap price, I have one advice, Never walk without money, extra money, and always keep this quote in mind “Good things come by only once” . You see it, Get it. If you have to walk home or not buy airtime for that day, so be it, I have done it before. I had money to do my hair, on my way to buy braids, I met up with this coat, we talked for a bit, and I fell in love and had to take him home. Then walking back, he meets up with an old friend, the prettiest jacket I have ever seen and we had to make it a threesome. Longest orgasm of my life… Did I just say orgasm? Hahaha half of you don’t even read what I write.

I love this look; I look like the type I’d love to date. Fresh jeans, bomb ass shoes and all swagged up, I am feeling myself and throughout the day I kept wishing that someone compliments my outfit and imagine nobody did. Africans don’t know what’s up. Yes I caught feelings.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR VISITING

PANDORA'S BOX. AM I BLEACHING?

PANDORA’S BOX. AM I BLEACHING?

Hi everyone, welcome to those random topic posts and today we are going to talk about a topic I never mention. Bleaching. It has become so popular amongst black women lately, and I don’t blame the black community or the people not against bleaching, I don’t blame us black women. I blame the media. There is a belief that being light skinned gives you a greater chance to be noticed and to stand out, so we are all going “yellow” as if the sun wasn’t bright enough. Recently Vera Sidika had an interview where she publicly spoke about her “investment” in skin bleaching, and quote she said that she was “improving her body”. Does that mean that being dark skin is not good enough? And apparently bleaching her skin has improved her career. Recently commercial modeling adverts are in high demand of light skin or mixed women. This feeds us into thinking that, to make it I have to be lighter. It’s not about insecurity but acceptance.
For the small percentage thinking that black women are trying to be white, no we are not, we grew up believing that light is better than dark, white is better than black, day is better than night, pink is better than black… etc. Think about the time “blacks” were oppressed by whites and that makes us think until today that whites are better than us, most of us do, if there is a black person out there shaking his/her head “Na lie”. There is always that feeling of insecurity when you go for a job interview and it’s black against white, or sports, modeling… etc. We have that thought in the back of our minds that never seems to go away, as if racism is still a big issue the only difference is, people don’t talk about it anymore. It has gotten old, just like war and terrorism is a big issue but people don’t care. The less attention we pay to it, the more it looks like it does not exist.

But let’s face it, what would this world be without differences, it will be boring, as humans we spend too much time appreciating what the other has that we forget to look at our own blessings. It’s human nature to envy, wanting what the other has; there are whites who wish to be black and blacks who wish to be white. This issue will never go away. Same as, tall people wish to be short and shorties like me; wish to be blessed with a few more inches. Humans are naturally unsatisfied.
Being light skinned or skin bleaching has become an obsession and I must say it got to me too, just like all of us. 90% of black people vote against it but many do so to appear “more black”. Should whites also be against tanning?. Women started enhancing their beauty before Christ and will keep on doing so. It suits you to bleach? Go ahead, not my place to judge because I am not in your shoes or have lived the life you have. As for me, fake hair and fake drawn eyebrows for life.

To answer the question, am I bleaching. The answer is, No I am not bleaching. Thanks to watching 21 seasons of America’s next top model, I learned great photography tips, If you face the light while posing, not only does it make it easier to edit the picture but you look clear. This is not a black or dark skin trick; all races are recommended to face the light. A great example will be; With no camera flash, take a picture of you with the lights off, then another with lights on, and choose one. Finally, my skin doesn’t make me who I am. Yes I have had days where I thought to myself “thank God I am brown skinned” or “I wish I was light skinned” But it’s not my fault. Its society’s fault and we are just slaves in it.

Me, currently.

I FOUND LOVE

I FOUND LOVE

“Oh no she didn’t” … Yes she did, she is back! I never left, I just took some time off to deal with personal issues, get myself together, and I am back, not sure if I am officially back but I figured I need to update you on what’s been going on and why I have not been posting. But before we get to that, I miss you guys so much and I just want to give you a big hug, even when I was away, I kept getting views and they were pretty constant, so thank you guys so much for that. We finally hit 25000+ views. I have the best audience ever, and thanks to your views, your love and positive energy I found love. I want to keep it and never let go, I have never been happier internally, I am going ku-ku. I have been silent the last few weeks, rarely on whatsapp, and social media. I am the type of person who is obsessed with finding true love, I want to be loved as much as I can love, unconditionally. Others have dreams to become president, rich, famous, I just want to be happy. Don’t get me wrong I love money too. The time I was away, I took time to experience what we call “ True love” and It was an amazing feeling. All those years I have been looking for someone to love and never truly realized that, that person was right here the whole time and that person is me. I learned one thing, No one’s opinion about you matters. For the first time in my life, I got dressed for me, to impress me and make me beautiful for me. Feels great. I also realized that I am crazy, that’s for sure but crazy fun. Enough about love, let’s talk about what I have been up to and will be up to.

STREET FASHION
Going down 28th June at Arboretum from 9:30 – 6:00PM
This is one of those events you have can’t miss, you have to be there. Most importantly, My friend will be showcasing her designs and I invite you all to come check her out. You can visit her blog here Joska The Trend . I can’t wait to see you all.
I will be attending, this is one of the most talked about fashion event and mingle. Drinks, food, fashion icons, and so much more. Get discovered and get to know people.

DID YOU QUIT BLOGGING?
No I haven’t and never will. I just want to add some spice to it, some chilli and see what I am capable of, I am actually considering often “outfit of the day” posts. Because I think I got style and I want to show it off but I am shy J. Please share this post if you think I have style and thumbs up if you think I have style…. Hahaha

D.I.Ys?
Yes of course I will be posting DIYs as usual, no I haven’t run out of ideas but I feel like I need to step up a little, doing the same things over and over again can get boring. I just want to discover myself and my talents. I have been doing DIYs for years now and I love it, always look forward to it, but when fun becomes an obligation with a schedule, it’s not fun anymore. But right now, I feel like doing a DIY, so stay tuned, something is coming up this week. I want to have fun with my blogging.

OTHER?
Not really. Just been acting as usual, occasional modeling, hustling and University…  So pretty much, nothing new, other than me-time and the upcoming fashion events that I am so excited to attend…

FASHION POLICE - 2014 FAFA GALA. YAY OR NAY?!

FASHION POLICE - 2014 FAFA GALA. YAY OR NAY!!!

Last week may 31st was FAFA gala at the oval in Westland. This was actually one of the biggest fashion events in Kenya as always. I have been waiting to attend a FAFA event since 2011. Never gave up sending applications and I got chosen to be part of it this year. It was an honor to experience how the event is planned. But let me break the news already, I did not attend the main event. Yes it hurts because I waited years for this one day, actually these few hours. But I ended up not going, a lot was going on in my personal life and it somehow crushed my dream, but let’s look at the positive side, I may have not made it to the end, but I got a taste of the ride, , I waited 3 years, I can handle the wait. So because I couldn’t make it, I felt the need to look at what every single person wore and I admit I am not the most fashionable person out there but I have a say in some of the outfit choices.
Please note that, this article is not intended to make fun of anyone, especially their talent or who they are as a person. I just felt that we need a “Kenyan fashion police”, not because we got people to arrest but the entertainment industry in Kenya is growing so fast and getting big at the moment that we are seeing a lot of creativity and also madness. It’s time to talk about the good, the bad and the “Heck no”.

STELLA MWANGI
First of all, Hi girl, I love your music, and let me just say that you did NOT shut it down here. I expected so much more. You have killer style we all know that, I spent over 30+ minutes on your instagram because I can’t get enough of your fashion sense, but here, you look like you just woke up one late Saturday, hangovered and rushing to nakumatt to get some milk. Why this outfit? It looks more broke than my situation. Just saying…

SILVIA NJOKI AND THIMBA
When I saw this picture, I was speechless, brought me back to my happy childhood days, the skirts are beautiful and the way they both wear them is just perfect. That red, is so hot on Silvia Njoki, I can feel the heat; and ladies, this is how you smash it at an event. Make a statement and be remembered. I am about to get me a tutu skirt. Thank you girls!

 ****
I am not saying this to be mean but my grandmother has this exact table cloth in her house. I get the vision of the dress, beautiful cut but wrong material. Picture this right next to kim kardashian’s curtain dress and we have a house. Most likely full of stacked cash which will make most of us envy but keep the dresses, share with me your bank details…

 ****
Lovely hair, perfect make up, beautiful woman but wrong pedicure, the shoe is beautiful and works well with the dress but when I look at the shoe I see the purple pedicure and I am disappointed, your manicure is also different. Make a decision. The dress and the neck piece both get a combined 10 from me; Great choice. Although I must ask, was it a bad panty day too? I don’t get what’s going on around your tummy? My conclusion; Good dress, good accessories but all over the place…

WAMZ
If I had to choose to fall in love? This dress stole my heart. Great detail and great accessories. I would hate to be your friend, because I will envy that dress so much. I am certainly not a fan of that shade of color but with this dress and on you, I’d go citrus any day. This is what FAFA is about and if this is how up your fashion game is, honey you are getting in for free every other shows.

ANGELA.
What a beautiful woman, your confidence shines through but that dress is not helping. I am sorry to say this but this dress is almost like a nun's dress and does not flaunt your body. But thumbs up on your confidence and you are wearing that dress, it’s not wearing you. Confidence is everything.

****
Another one of my favorite dressed at the event. Three words, Classy, beautiful and fun. The way it fits on her is very appealing, and this may sound weird but the distance from her chest to her head is very elegant. So yes her neck is beautiful and so is her face. This was nice to look at, simple but fabulous.

WINNIE
Give It up for my friend for killing this outfit. She looks amazing and I love how that beautiful dress has an African feel to it. She looks flawless.

JEREMY
Meet the guys who helped in the event, Give it up for my other friend, almost bestie for taking it another level, bringing Indian style to FaFa. Usually he is rocking Versace but he is all about being versatile, and does this outfit justice. Congratulations.

I hope I did not offend anyone. I spoke from a personal fashion point of view only and I know some people will definetly disagree with me and I am open to critics, you can tell me what you think below in the comments. Let’s discuss, what do you think? Which one is your most or least favorite Kenyan celebrity style? So once again, I hope no one is offended but if someone is, all I can say is this quote “Opinions don’t pay the bills”. So please, share and enjoy.
