D.I.Y LIP BALM/GLOSS

Hey guys, welcome to part II of last week’s post, if you don’t know what it was, please check it out here: D.I.Y LIPSTICK. After doing the lipstick tutorial, I realized it wouldn’t be fair to assume that everyone loves lipstick. Some girls prefer lip gloss or lip balm, so I decided to do a lip gloss tutorial this week, I hope you enjoy it. When I did the “D.I.Y Lipstick” Within hours my blog got over 500 views, it was an amazing feeling and ever since that post, I have been getting not less than 150 views per day breaking my own record. I used to get about 60-200 maximum, not I am between 150 annd 220 maximum. I am very grateful for the love, I love what I do, I love that you guys love what I do and I wish I could just hug every single one of you. Sometimes I wish my days were shorter so I can get to Friday already and work on some new tutorial and sometimes I wish my days were longer so that Friday won’t come because I don’t know what craft to work on next. But whenever that happens, the views, likes, shares and comments lets me know what you like for me to post. So please, keep liking, keep sharing, and keep commenting to motivate me to push harder.

                WHAT YOU NEED:

-      Vaseline

-      A bowl (Not plastic)

-      Lipstick

-      Something to stir

-      Lip gloss/ Lip balm container

If you can recall last week we had to scoop out remaining lipstick from lipstick containers to be able to fill it in with our homemade lipstick and I asked you guys not to throw it away. So that it where the lipstick is from, and Vaseline I got at tuskys for 70ksh. The lip balm container you can get for about 50ksh or you can use old lipbalm container, that is exactly what I did, because I did not like the lip balm flavor. Now I am going to replace it with a flavor I like.

STEP 1:

Melt the Vaseline in the bowl with medium heat and please control the heat, because we don’t want the Vaseline to boil.

STEP 2:

Now put in your lipstick, put a small chunk only and wait for it to melt and blend with the Vaseline.

STEP 3:

Pour the mixture in a container and let cool. Easy, fast and inexpensive, you can do it at home and save a lot of money on buying lipgloss or lip balm.

I recommend this method because if you did not know this, there is a substance in lip gloss and lip balms that are made to dry your lips, crack your lips (in some) so you keep using and buying. That is called business. The substances are known as; menthol, phenol and camphor.

THEN YOU ARE DONE!

OUT OF CRAYONS

  

Hello beautiful people. I have spent the whole week doubting myself on this D.I.Y post, until I actually did it and the results were amazing. I never knew that you could make your own lipstick until I tried it, it’s easy, it’s simple and it’s so much fun. It is said that the self-made lipstick out of crayons is actually safer than real lipstick because, the homemade or self made one is toxic free while the real lipstick contains a lot of harmful toxics. Some of you may decide “Lip gloss it is” but don’t give up on lipstick yet because you can actually make your own lipstick now. How great is that? You get to spend less and be healthy.

I am a big fan of lipstick, especially red lipstick but thanks to this tutorial I am now loving pink too, I used to think that pink makes my lips look fuller, because I am not a fan of full lips, but today somehow it just looked perfect, better than my usual red lipstick I think. This D.I.Y is just too fabulous that I am not going to write much, let’s begin already. But before we do, one last thing, I did my eyebrows on my own, and it’s my second third time trying it out and there is improvement. Thumbs up for me, I did it again, almost. :-D

WHAT YOU NEED:

-      Crayons

-      Bowl

-      Cooking bowl or pan

-      Vaseline

-      Lipstick containers/palettes

This is a very cheap D.I.Y but at the same time beautiful, I bought the crayons at Tusky’s Supermarket for 75ksh, the Vaseline at 60ksh and I actually bought the aluminium bowl at 60ksh, because I am sure they won’t let me use what’s in the kitchen. My sister would be like “The F are you doing? Put it back.” Lol. So that is about 205Ksh that I used. But you can use less if you don’t need to buy a bowl.

NOTE: I used some of my old lipstick containers that I didn’t like or were already done. So before you start, scoop out all the lipstick in the old containers that you don’t like or use anymore. Wash it and let it dry properly.

STEP 1: Boil water in the pan, medium is perfect, but you can control the gas from time to time.

STEP 2: Place the small bowl inside the pan with hot water, keep the fire on, and melt the Vaseline or petroleum jelly.

STEP 3: Add in the crayons and let it melt, takes some time but it will melt, if you can’t wait, put it directly on the fire but NOT for long. That’s what I did, I am impatient, I like seeing results now and then. That’s why I can’t keep any work-out schedule or beauty routines.

STEP 4: Pour the liquid inside the lipstick containers and let it cool for about 7-12 minutes.

DO THE SAME FOR THE OTHER COLORS THAT YOU WISH TO HAVE

  

WASHING:
Please wash the bowl or plate with hot water and soap, not warm, hot!

THEN YOU ARE DONE.

Wear your new lipstick shades and let everyone know you did it.

THE RED

Not too bright, just a beautiful shade of red, and I call it “Cherry bum bum”

THE PINK

I feel like nicki minaj with this on my lips. So I am going to call this one “Barbie”

THE NUDE

This one did not pop on my lips, I think due to my skin tone but either way, I call it “Eve”.

MY NATURAL HAIR

These hair growth journey topic posts are usually positive, were people go from bald headed to Ariel the mermaid. But it’s a bumpy ride for me, going from Ariel the mermaid, to looking like I have been electrocuted. Tried fixing everything, worked for a while then everything went south, west, you name it. By the title of this post, you all must be thinking that I have had positive results like all other hair growth posts. But you know the truth. Let me take through my story.

I do not have long hair, but for someone like me who was born without hair, I got more than enough. My hair has been a complicated relationship from the time I was little, I shaved a few times, I fell sick had to shave, I have a permanent bald patch that was due to infection and hair never grew back. I put chemical on my hair and my hair literally fell off, and that was last year. Don’t worry; we will get to that but the good stuff first. Let’s start from when I had beautiful long hair.

JANUARY 2013

So this picture if from January 2013. Ever had to go to the salon ask to put a particular hairstyle with braids and they tell you, it won’t work, your hair is too long. That girl was me. Having long hair is awesome but not in the morning or at night, because I do not like anything disturbing my face when I am sleeping, entering my eye and itching my neck, in the morning, I do not like combing my hair, till today. It’s too painful. So that was me with my long hair don’t care and mind you it was not even fully blow dried, that why there is a puff (growth).

APRIL 2013

And this was me April 2013. What a short time right? Long story short, I went back home for some time, came back and I couldn’t stand the growth anymore so I decided to put chemical and have it easier. I had it on for about 10-15 minutes, went to wash my hair and to my surprise, with every time I slid my hand into my hair, a big chunk of hair hung on to my fingers, and that kept happening. I was traumatized, I did not understand anything, and I was troubled and lost for the next few days. I then made a decision to start treating my hair, this went on for two weeks then I couldn’t style it, so I decided, let me keep treating it but make it a bit cool, fresh, swag it up; so I shaved one side of my head.

JUNE 2013

Above is my hair End April 2013 when I started my side shave. I was pretty pleased with the results, so was everyone (**Except parents of course). I am adventurous and do not mind trying anything, so It probably is not the only crazy hair I am going to have, I am young, let me do it while I can. I have gone blond, brown, I am not done yet.

AUGUST 2013

I believe my new hair just complemented my style. As u can notice, the shaved area grew over time… I am just hoping I don’t go fully bald.

NOVEMBER 2013

One thing I love about my hair is that, it grows really fast but reaches a certain point and it just stops growing or grows very slow. This picture was actually taken when I started my blog, so you can check one of my first post here: STUDS SPIKES AND DENIMS

FEBRUARY 2014

This when things took the worst turn ever, I have just been through so much with my hair that loosing an inch is too much, but I lost much more. I remember telling you in the beginning that I have a permanent bald much on my head around the middle, it’s quite small but this was worst, my barber went full retard on me, thought I was going bald and started shaving from the front part of my head. For the record, I don’t speak to him again, I have never gone back and if I see him it will piss me off, check out the full story here WHY I SHAVED MY HAIR. So now I have to braid and put on weaves for the next one year until my hair grows back. So see you again next year for another update. I don’t usually put on weaves but if that is the only way for my hair to grow faster, I am ready to rock it.
